AC Shadows Introduces Surprising AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the official announcement, "A strange meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of banned rituals and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The narrative features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden sect.
The mission concentrates on "bizarre trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's third complimentary story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
