Per recent claims from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a source provided evidence indicating Maxwell is working on the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, declared in a official statement that the prison’s warden was “helping” the convict with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for executive mercy.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unknown, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, Maxwell was provided directions about instructing her associates to contact and how personnel would relay the call to her.

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she “essentially used” the official as her private aide.

The news release states that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and return them to the warden to digitize and send to the original sender.

Additional Privileges Reported

Other privileges allegedly granted to Maxwell include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was more content at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most inmates are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, the official, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with room service, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also posed three questions to Trump.

He inquired whether he had talked about a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by 24 November.
